Singapore flyer

The school and teachers had been planning long just for the day, seventh of March to bring the student to Singapore flyer to experience an interactive lesson atop the world biggest observation wheel. The teachers’ intention is to provide an environment whereby we student are being challenged to solve real-life problems, collaborate and share ideas and expressing our thoughts in writing and so on. On the other hand, the teachers also want to enhance our interest in learning mathematics, science and national education in a fun and enriching way.
Our first activity at the flyer was the flight, whereby I and my group mates, accompanied by a teacher aboard the capsule with thrilled and excitement. Each and every one of us were all feeling very enthuse when we were moving on the flyer, despite the excitement we were experiencing, we were not there for fun or to view the scenery. The teacher had given us a task to do during the thirty minutes flight. We were to observe, listen, feel and experience the ride and to identify and record the landmarks we saw. Some examples of the major attraction landmarks we saw were Marina bay financial centre, Collyer Quay, The Fullerton Singapore, Merlion Park etc. When the capsule was getting higher and higher, I started to anticipate fear and remember my acrophobia. My legs were sort of trembling at that moment. Though the flight was moving at an extremely slow rate, I was shivering when I looked at the height we had reached. When my friend noticed my fear, she immediately came to help me. I grabbed on to her hand but she helped me to the bench and slowly tried to distract my mind. After some time, I got more relaxed and managed to stand again.
After the thirty minutes ride, our next station was the tropical rainforest. Then we were given our second tasks, doing reflection on the environmental issues and concerns. We were to take down pictures of the structural features that play a part in maintaining the stability of the flyer and the driving unit that makes the flyer turn, for the benefit of our physics project. When we enter I was really amazed that rainforest was being modified just like real ones, examples like the water falls and the volcanoes. When we finished walking the perimeter of the forest and finished taking the photos, we took a break at the only shop there that sells beverage, the seven-eleven. During our break, I took a walk and I realized that there were also quite a number of other shops that sells accessories, clothing and even a famous toy shop was located at there.
Finally, everyone was being gathered at the rooftop garden. Lastly, we end our day with reflecting and learning section and follow by our individual journal writing and feedback form. We were given time to discuss and share our experience on the flyer and reflect and wrote it down on the mahjong paper provided. When times up, every subgroup place their presentation on the gallery walk path for other groups to view. After that, we form back with our class and took a class photo at the flyer. That was a memorable school trip.
I feel that this trip to Singapore flyer was a benefit for me. I learn a lot along the way, and gain some knowledge and logic of the flyer. I would greatly recommend my family and relatives to this enjoyable trip and flight there, where we would see the beautiful scenery and hot spots of Singapore. It was indeed a worthy trip.

new technology- a threat or a promise

I feel that new technology is both a threat and a promise, for it benefit and brought harm to us at the same time. To elaborate further;

Threat

Firstly, let’s talked about the threat and harm new technology had brought and contribute to the world. Due to the advanced technology, many types of machines are invented. One of such examples is the vehicles, whereby there are the transport buses, taxis, trains and cars. These are our daily transport that, students take to school every morning, but nobody noticed that these vehicles are actually bringing harms to us. The threat that these vehicles had caused is air pollution to the environment, which might lead to the seriousness of global warming if neglected. Another point is that do you know that we are in the state of danger whereby the global warming is getting more and more serious. This is due to the poisonous substances and harmful gases released by the vehicles. When these harmful gases accumulate, over a period of time, it will gradually lead to greenhouse effect. Everyday, there are millions and billions of such machines a day going all over the world and giving out an undefined amount of harmful substances. This is the reason why I feel that new technology is a threat. Compare to the past, we do not have such cases affecting the environment. In the past, people usually walk or cycle so there is no way that can produce the harmful gases the cars are contributing. Despite the threats we are facing, there is also promises that benefited us and we should not excluded.

Promise

With the new technology, vehicle was invented and we can now take transport to and forth places more conveniently and within a shorter period of time. These vehicles include the buses, taxi, trains and cars. These advanced machines have helped us to save time and allow us to travel at a faster rate. Our lives are easier now compared to the past whereby the only transport they had was bicycle and their legs. No matter how short or how long the distance the people need to travel, they could only cycle or by walking. Now we are luckier that we could sit in comfort on the vehicle and reaches our destination in a short while.
Isn’t this considered as a promise, for we do not need to be so tough like the past? We could now move around places to places easily with no much of hard work.
